Eaglecrest Ski Area is proud to be home to several Juneau Ski Club programs that help develop the next generation of confident, skilled skiers and snowboarders. From Mitey Mites, Devos and Juniors to the growing freeride programs, the Juneau Ski Club plays a key role in building strong athletes, good sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of the mountain.
Freeride Programs & New 2026 Competitions
One of the most exciting areas of growth at Eaglecrest is the Juneau Ski Club Freeride Program. Designed for athletes who thrive on creativity, technical riding, and big-mountain decision-making, the freeride program emphasizes all-mountain progression while fostering safety, confidence, and style.
For the 2026 season, the Juneau Ski Club is expanding opportunities for athletes with new freeride competitions hosted at Eaglecrest Ski Area. These events follow IFSA (International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association) guidelines and focus on the core pillars of freeride performance: line choice, control, fluidity, technique, style, and energy. Local and regional IFSA competitions give athletes a chance to showcase their skills on familiar terrain while gaining valuable competitive experience.
Juneau Ski Club Freeride Snowboard Team
The Juneau Ski Club Freeride Snowboard Team is currently gearing up, with only a few spots still available. Registration closes January 15.
This program is built for motivated snowboarders U14–U18 (birth years 2012 and older) who are ready to push their all-mountain riding to the next level. Training takes place Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Eaglecrest Ski Area.
Athletes develop strong fundamentals while riding a variety of terrain, learning snow safety, and building smart decision-making skills in real mountain environments. Advanced riders will progress into more challenging terrain, refine air awareness, and have opportunities to compete in local and regional IFSA freeride events.
This program is best suited for intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable on most of Eaglecrest’s terrain and are eager to grow. Families are encouraged to connect with Freeride Program Head Coach David Lowell to ensure the program is the right fit.
