Update: Hooter Chairlift is back up and running!
Hooter Chairlift was closed this Sunday and Monday due to unforeseen repairs. Early Sunday morning it was determined that the chairlift was not receiving proper voltage, and Mountain Operations staff fired up the auxiliary motor to safely offload passengers.
After much diagnostic testing we have isolated the problem to the electrical drive panel. Repairs will be ongoing over the next two days, and it is our top priority to get Hooter back up and running as soon as possible.
Porcupine Chairlift also had an operating issue Sunday & Monday stemming from an erratic control signal that has now been repaired. Porcupine is now back to full operations.
We were excited to see 7 more inches of snow fall on the mountain which improved the conditions enough to get Black Bear Chairlift operating on Monday.
Providing a safe and dependable mountain experience for the people of Juneau is of the utmost importance.
Thank you all for your patience!
Best Regards,
