Fish Creek Road is a State Highway. Alaska DOT plows the road each morning prior to opening and will return as needed throughout the day. Eaglecrest is the highest road accessible point in Juneau. Be prepared for winter driving and use 4WD, AWD, studded tires, or chains whenever necessary.
Saturday hooray! All 4 Lifts are open and it's snowing heavily at the base! If you haven’t already heard, yesterday’s skiing and riding was exceptional, and today looks to be more of the same! Groomers are soft and carvable and the bowls and other off-piste areas have held onto every ounce of new snow we got this week (5” since Wednesday). This morning, snow flurries have been on and off since 4AM and could accumulate 1-2 inches today. Winds are calm from top to bottom today. Pack your low-light lenses and cowbells for today’s Skimo uphill race, and we’ll see you up here!
Be sure to register for one of this weekend's events and donate to the Coastal Avalanche Center! You can still register for the Beacon Scramble as it’s held throughout Sunday. It’s a skills test of searching for 5-6 beacons around the mountain and unscrambling the associated letters to solve the password! You can register anytime before Sunday. It can take place anytime between Friday afternoon and Sunday morning and is not timed. Juneau Skimo uphill race is TODAY and features a new route! All skill levels are welcome and so are spectators! More details and registration at the links below.
Eaglecrest is open and operating daily from March 15th - March 26th from 9AM-4PM. Ptarmigan, Hooter, Blackbear and Porcupine are scheduled from 9-4 today.

NORDIC (3.25): Trails should be fast and hard-packed trails this morning. There could be a fresh dusting on the trails after the groomer goes through around 7AM. The lower loop has been groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The Dog Loop is groomed and is located below the lower nordic parking lot. No dogs are allowed on the regular lower loop trails.
The upper loop has also been groomed for both classic and skate skiing. Trickster access is open!

See Mountain Report. On operating days, uphill access is not permitted within the ski area boundary. There are three designated routes along the ski area boundary to access backcountry terrain, not Eaglecrest terrain. Please refer to the uphill route map and read the uphill policy. Eaglecrest reserves the right to suspend uphill access at any time for ski patrol and mountain operations. This includes operating and non-operating days and hours. Uphill skiers, snowboarders, and hikers are using the area at their own risk and assume all responsibility. Always read the Mountain Report or call the Snow Phone before visiting. |
