Fish Creek Road is a State Highway. Alaska DOT plows the road each morning prior to opening and will return as needed throughout the day.  Eaglecrest is the highest road accessible point in Juneau. Be prepared for winter driving and use 4WD, AWD, studded tires, or chains whenever necessary.

March 12, 6:31 AM

Good Morning, Juneau! Thank you to whoever called in a powder Wednesday WITH blue skies. It’s about time we had a unicorn Juneau snow day on our hands. Remember, folks - it’s not over til it’s over.

A new snow measurement of 3.5 inches is at the base and 10” up top (though it feels more like 6”). The snow up top is excellent, while the snow towards the base could be a little fast and crunchy with the cooler temperatures. We will find out together, but let’s just say if there’s a day to call out sick, it’s today. Low winds, clear skies, and a full day of skiing and riding ahead!

All that being said, I would be a misleading conditions reporter if I didn’t tell you that our base is still only at 11“ with the new snow. Obstacles and hazards are everywhere, and look out for rocks, bushes, and muskeg that lurk beneath the fresh snow. Hooter is closed today and there are no rentals allowed on the upper mountain.

Your groomed trails today are: Muskeg, Dolly Varden, Stickleback, Sourdough, Williwaw, Otter Slide, Throat, Easy bowl, Motherlode, upper Sluice Box, Black Bear Access, Raven & Log Jam Runouts. Ptarmigan and Porcupine chairlifts will be open from 9AM - 4PM.

NORDIC UPDATE: March 12th- 6:30AM update

Good Morning Nordic Fans! The Upper Loop has been groomed this moring thanks to our very hardworking groomer. Conditions should be excellent with packed powder snow and a classic and skate track set. Unmarked hazards exist, so use caution out there.

You can access the upper loop above Hilda Dam via Sneaky and hiking up the lookers left side of sneaky by the fence.
