Juneau Parks & Recreation and Eaglecrest Ski Area are recruiting for Park Maintenance Workers and Trail Crew members to help develop and maintain the parks and trails in Juneau. These employees will be part of the new COVID-19 Conservation Corps, a program that focuses on workforce development and job training for people furloughed, unemployed, or underemployed due to COVID-19.

Workers at Eaglecrest will help develop and maintain the hiking, mountain bike, and ski trails at Eaglecrest (full job description). Workers for Parks & Recreation will be dispatched to various parks and trails throughout CBJ (full job description). This is a unique opportunity to assist CBJ in expanding recreational activities at Eaglecrest and throughout Juneau.

CBJ is looking for people who enjoy working outdoors (rain or shine), can perform physical work, are reliable and dependable, and are able to work collaboratively as part of a team. These are temporary, non-benefitted hourly positions. Only people furloughed, unemployed, or underemployed due to COVID-19 at the time of application are eligible for these positions:

• Park Maintenance Worker – Pay is $19.72 per hour. Job responsibilities include cleaning, maintaining, constructing, and repairing recreation areas and trails; landscaping; assembling equipment; and operating power tools.

• Lead Park Maintenance Worker – Pay is $22.47 per hour. Job responsibilities include supervising and directing a crew, providing on-the-job training, and assisting with the maintenance and construction work.
