Eaglecrest is excited to announce the return of the Powder Keg Cup, our after-hours uphill-downhill race series held on three Saturdays in March!

We have men’s and women’s divisions for ski, telemark, and splitboard. Last year we didn’t have any snowshoers, but you are welcome to join as long as the way down is on skis or snowboard.

The rules are pretty simple. We’ll have a mass start at the Hooter Chairlift base. Each race will loosely follow a designated route all the way to the Eagle’s Nest. Once there, racers will transition their equipment and race downhill as fast (and safely) as possible. The finish line is the same as the starting line. The first one to cross wins! Racers must carry an avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe.

Points will be awarded to all racers based on the results. Because this is a three-race series, we will crown overall champions by averaging racers’ two best point totals. If you can’t make all three races, don’t worry, just make sure you’re here for two out of three!

No matter your division, competitive spirit, costumes, and shenanigans are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded accordingly. Bragging rights are eternal!

If you would like to help out as a volunteer, please email [email protected].
