Updated Dec 18, 2020 12:15 PM

Opening Day is Saturday, December 19, 2020. The plan has changed since yesterday’s announcement. After receiving 8” of snowfall on Thursday, the weather turned into overnight rain, which has continued through Friday as of this update.

The temperature and precipitation levels at Eaglecrest have been warmer and wetter than forecasted. Tonight’s weather could be rain, snow, or even a hard freeze. Any way it swings, we are exploring options to open limited areas of Upper Mountain terrain.

Ptarmigan Chairlift will be assessed in the morning. Hooter & Porcupine Chairlifts will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Black Bear Chairlift will not operate due to low snowpack.

If we are able to operate Ptarmigan Chairlift:

  • It would be a 10:00 AM opening at the earliest.
  • West Side terrain only. East Side terrain is hazardous.
  • Experts only. Ski with a buddy.
  • No grooming.
  • No easier way down.
  • No rental equipment allowed outside Porcupine Learning Area.
  • Be aware of rocks, obstacles, and other hazards.
  • Be prepared to encounter hazards below the snow surface.
  • The Ski Shop is open for repairs.

Check skieaglecrest.com/conditions for updates in the morning. You may also call the Snow Phone (907) 790-2000.

As for the Lower Mountain, the trails Sneaky & Sourdough were groomed last night, but will not be groomed again until the snowpack is less saturated. The Porcupine Area is still looking great for Holiday Camps and Learners Programs.

Eaglecrest will be open daily through January 10, 2021, with the exceptions of Christmas Day and January 7. Operations are subject to change at any time due to weather.

Prior to visiting, please familiarize yourself with Eaglecrest’s new operating procedures and policies outlined at skieaglecrest.com/covid19. Remember to wear an appropriate face covering whenever you are not actively skiing or snowboarding, treat your vehicle as your lodge, and please be respectful.

The Ticket Office, Snowsports School, and Ski Shop will be open with service provided through outdoor windows. All visitors must first check-in at the Ticket Office window. Advanced reservations are required for Snowsports School lessons.

If you want to rent skiing or snowboarding equipment this season, you must:

Eaglecrest Grill will be open. Place food orders at the outside service window, located on the north side of the Fish Creek Lodge, and pick them up at the deck! The Tower Bar and Mountain Lift Coffee are closed. We are still waiting for tents and heaters to arrive for our warming stations.
