Eaglecrest Ski Area will be closed to all users on Thursday, July 23 for rock quarry blasting. Alaska Juneau Construction will be blasting the upper mountain material source located at the bottom of the ski trail Inside Passage. The mountain must be clear of all public by 6:00 AM and will be reopened once the blast is complete and everything is clear.
The freshly blasted rock will be used for Eaglecrest’s ongoing trail construction activity around the mountain related to the City and Borough of Juneau’s COVID-19 Conservation Corp work program.
Eaglecrest asks all hikers, bikers, and other users to yield to heavy machinery for the duration of the summer trail construction season. This is for the safety of the trail crew, contractors, and guests.
